Treatment Summary
Areas Treated: Forehead, Temples, Nose, Lips, Cheeks,Chin & Eye Area
Treatment is usually delivered after a local anaesthetic cream or injection has been used to numb the area to be treated. Depending upon the treatment you have chosen, the practitioner will inject at several different sites on the area to be treated and this could take anything from 30 minutes to an hour. Swelling afterwards is common as is tenderness or redness of the area. We always advise to avoid caffeine, alcohol, hot drinks and the sun until the area had recovered and to not sleep or lie down for several hours afterwards so that the product has time to settle in properly.
Fillers vary in that they can consist of a number of different products the most common being collagen, Hyaluronic acid and calcium Hydroxylapatie.
Some are designed to need to be re-injected after 3-4 months whilst other are longer lasting up to a possible two years and even permanent although these tend to be the more risky forms. We do not offer permanent fillers at Smiles preferring to use temporary ones and to see our clients on a more regular basis using more natural products.

At Smiles, we feel it important to offer a no-obligation consultation to anyone who is considering treatment. This will enable us to fully explain the products we use and what is involved in the delivery of the treatment. It will also enable us to ask you a few health-based questions which may highlight possible contraindications to having such treatments. In this case, we will be able to advise you of alternative options. Your health and safety is of paramount importance to us and we always endeavour to ensure the safest and optimal outcome for you.
Frequently asked questions
How do dermal fillers work?
The most common dermal fillers contain Hyaluronic Acid which is found naturally in the skin. This acid can store a huge amount of moisture and it is this that results in a ‘plumped’ up appearance. The acid is a gel-like substance and once injected it settles in to become part of the surrounding tissue absorbing water molecules and hydrating the surrounding area.
How long do lip fillers last?
Typically, lip fillers last three to four months, however those containing Hyaluronic Acid tend to last longer at six months. This is a generalisation as the products will dissolve and break down at different rates in different people.
Do lip fillers hurt?
Believe it or lip enhancer injections can be a fairly pain-free procedure. In particular Hyaluronic Acid is much less dense than previous options and as a result is delivered via a fine needle. This helps to reduce pain not only at the point of treatment but also reduces swelling and bruising.
Can you use fillers for sunken eyes?
Sunken eyes are often the result of dehydration, vitamin deficiency, aging, genetics, weight loss, smoking or trauma. Using dermal fillers, as a sunken eye treatment is quite common these days and it is injected just below the eye and done properly should not be too painful. Our practitioners will guide you if you are considering this treatment explaining the process in more detail.
Hyalauronic Acid is also used as an under eye filler for dark circles.
