GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE RETURN OF DENTAL SERVICES IN ENGLAND.

We, like you, learned of the government’s plans for dental practices to re-open from Monday 8th June during the briefing. of the Prime Minister on the 28th of May

At the moment, and so that you are fully aware, only dental practices who can evaluate that they have the PPE (personal protective equipment) and IPC (infection prevention and control) requirements in place are allowed to welcome back patients. Fortunately, we at Smiles on Broadway have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare for our re-opening, to ensure that it is safe for both patients and staff to return.

In light of the Prime Minister’s briefing, we will be in touch with our valued patients in the coming weeks about any further updates that will occur.

Whilst we prepare for our re-opening, however, we respectfully ask that you do not call the practice to book any routine appointments. Initial appointments will be prioritised for emergencies only

From all of us at Smiles on Broadway, we thank you for your patience through these trying times

Continue to remain safe and we will see you soon.

Acne Treatment

Our Acne Treatment

Acne affects many people at various stages of life and can cause immense distress and confidence issues. Most commonly thought of as a teenage problem, it can present in anyone, male or female and especially menopausal women.

It occurs when the oil-secreting sebaceous glands in the skin become clogged or inflamed due to the presence of bacteria. Approximately 90% of adolescents in the UK are affected to some extent. This problem is exacerbated by hormonal changes that occur during the teenage years with the consistency of the sebum produced by these glands being affected.

Fotona, the laser that we use within Smiles offer a treatment that provides a comprehensive solution to acne. Using the Nd:YAG laser, it penetrates the skin to target the sebaceous glands which in many cases are overactive and are the fundamental cause of acne.  The laser is directed at the whole area and you may feel warmth on the skin as the laser moves about.

Pre-Treatment Consultation

At Smiles, we feel it important to offer a no-obligation consultation to anyone who is considering treatment. This will enable us to fully explain the products we use and what is involved in the delivery of the treatment.  It will also enable us to ask you a few health-based questions which may highlight possible contraindications to having such treatments. In this case, we will be able to advise you of alternative options. Your health and safety is of paramount importance to us and we always endeavour to ensure the safest and optimal outcome for you.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Fotona laser treat acne?

Once the pores on the surface of the skin have become blocked, they become colonised by anaerobic bacteria. This means that the bacteria will thrive without oxygen. Over time the amount of bacteria present increases and the typical swelling and redness associated with acne spreads.

The Fotona laser treats the problem by penetrating the skin and targeting the over-active sebaceous glands and destroying them.  Once achieved the bacteria decline and the redness and swelling reduces.

What is Laser skin resurfacing?

As part of the process, the acne scars on the surface of the skin are gently vaporised and the healthy skin below revealed.  Additionally, as a result of this process, it accelerates healing by stimulating collagen remodelling. Swelling is reduced as histamine release is minimised and the whole area will see improvement quickly.

Why you need a pre-treatment Consultation?

At your initial consultation, your practitioner will be able to determine the number of treatments you will require depending on the severity of the condition. They will also offer advice on adopting the optimal cleansing routine to help to maintain the improvements post treatment.

How many treatments will you need?

You will require at least four treatments scheduled one week apart from each other. You must learn to avoid the temptation of picking or scratching the acne. By adopting a thorough cleansing routine afterwards you will maximise the appearance and reduce the risk of further outbreaks.

Does Smiles offer laser eye vein removal?

Treatments within our laser vein removal centre are for the face and body. We do not offer laser eye vein removal.
