Reduction of hair
Redness immediately after
Approx. 3-6+ months

Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light to achieve permanent hair removal. The hair follicles are damaged as a result of the light energy being converted to heat and it is this that inhibits the new hair growth.
Most body hair is fine or downy and often not visible but if it is causing you discomfort or embarrassment laser hair removal may be the ideal option.
At Smiles, we feel it important to offer a no-obligation consultation to anyone who is considering treatment. This will enable us to fully explain the products we use and what is involved in the delivery of the treatment. It will also enable us to ask you a few health-based questions which may highlight possible contraindications to having such treatments. In this case, we will be able to advise you of alternative options. Your health and safety is of paramount importance to us and we always endeavour to ensure the safest and optimal outcome for you.
The Fotona Nd:YAG laser guarantees safe, fast and efficient hair removal. It works by targeting the deepest follicles while ensuring that the surrounding tissues are preserved. The difference between IPL and laser treatment is that
unlike IPL options, it is safe for the darkest skin types without risk of epidermal damage. It is quick with minimal pain and you can return to you normal activities straight away.
Hair growth occurs in cycles and different areas of body hair may experience a growth at different rates. To ensure maximum removal of hair we suggest up to 6 treatments scheduled 4-6 weeks apart to achieve a reduction of between 80-90%.
The following factors will affect the final result but laser hair removal is still considered one of the best options available:
We recommend that you shave the day before your appointment with a clean, new razor. This will assist the laser to locate the follicles that it needs to target.
It can also be helpful to avoid caffeine for 24 hours beforehand.
Whilst not totally permanent, laser hair removal will drastically reduce hair growth to a minimal amount. Over several treatments any pain experienced will be reduced and new hair growth finer. Your practitioner will advise on future maintenance treatments possibly every 6 to 12 months.
There is a minimal amount of pain but this diminishes as more treatments are undertaken. Hair typically falls out between 5-14 days after treatment and may continue for several weeks. You may also notice some pinkish colouration of the area for a few days but this is seen less often in fair-skinned people.
Whilst there is an initial cost to laser hair removal, it far outweighs the ongoing cost of home hair removal and the need to constantly buy razors and depilatory creams.
Beauty clinics and alternative aesthetic treatment options near you may be plentiful but if you are searching for an expert laser clinic or beauty clinic near you then Smiles can offer you a wealth of hair removal options delivered by professional practitioners.
